GAME DAY RECAP: March 16, 2026

Calgary International Hockey Academy (4) vs. Northern Alberta Xtreme (2) U15 Western Championships

The Northern Alberta Xtreme looked to win their second of two U15 Western Championship games, coming up against a Calgary International Hockey Academy squad on Monday morning who had lost their tournament opener. NAX produced numerous chances of their own to take over, but CIHA always stemmed the tide and would establish a cushion at the end of the first period. Rhett Davis (2G) scored just past the halfway mark of the first period, before goals in quick succession in the last few minutes of the period from Nick Acierno (1G, 1A) and a second from Davis had CIHA 3-0 up through twenty minutes. CIHA would go up four through a Hudson Bennefield shorthanded goal, and while the NAX response set up a close(r) finish, Vincent Arsenault (33/35) shut the door late to help CIHA over the finish line.

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (2) vs. Delta Hockey Academy Black (8) U15 Western Championships

Delta Hockey Academy Black dominated from the outset of their U15 Western Championships clash with Couer d’Alene Hockey Academy, beginning with Bentley Gillis (3G), who scored the first two of the game and first goal of the second period, scoring a hat-trick to establish Delta Black’s dominance. Zach Giles (1G, 2A) and Easton Isfeld (1G, 2A) both scored for DHAB to help them further, with a pair of late goals from CDA only making a dent in the lead as Delta Black eventually won 8-2.

Notre Dame Hounds (6) vs. North Shore Warriors (3) U15 Division II Western Championships

In the second half of today’s game between the Notre Dame Hounds and North Shore Warriors in the U15 Division II Western Championships, North Shore’s effort was admirable, scoring three to get themselves back in the game. Unfortunately for the Warriors, though, the dominant way the Hounds started the game put them too far out of things for the late push to be enough. Aleksi Houle-Lewis (1G, 2A), Lochlan Kisslinger, Gus Buffington (2G), and Clarke Forrester (2G) scored to have Notre Dame up 4-0 before the game was half over, a lead they’d hold on to, surviving the late Warriors push with a 6-3 win.

Delta Hockey Academy White (1) vs. RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5) U15 Western Championships

Delta Hockey Academy White took the first lead of the game off the stick of Grayson Sears early in the first period, but unfortunately for Delta, that lead wouldn’t last long, and they wouldn’t retake the lead from there. Caleb Church (2G, 1A) scored on the powerplay to tie the game in the first before Church scored the only goal of the second to give RINK Winnipeg the lead through two. Brock Labelle (1G, 2A) scored on the man advantage early in the third to give his team a two-goal lead, a simple precursor to two more RHAW goals to seal the 5-1 win.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) vs. North Shore Warriors Female (2) U18 Prep Div II Western Championships SF

Four teams started the day hoping to punch their ticket to the Female U18 Prep Div II Western Championships Final tomorrow morning, with Delta Hockey Academy Black looking to triumph over North Shore. Delta outshot the Warriors 15-4 in the first but only led 1-0, with North Shore’s defence setting up Gia Carella’s second-period equalizer, sending the game into the third deadlocked 1-1. A Cross Checking penalty late in the second from the Warriors gave DHAB an early third-period powerplay, one Lucy Williams converted upon, giving Delta Black the third period lead. Madison Seitz, though, tied the game at two for the Warriors later on, setting up a photo finish. Kiernan Ledoux’s brilliant rush up ice ended with her backhand finish into the top corner to give DHAB the lead with 66 seconds to go. That stood as the winner, sending DHAB to the Final on Tuesday morning.

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (1) vs. Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U15 Division II Western Championships

The start of RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna and Okanagan Hockey Academy’s U15 Division II Western Championships game on Monday started in lightning-fast fashion, with an early goal from Max Chen getting the party started just 49 seconds in. If the early goal was expected to be a kick-off point for a wave of scoring, it was almost the opposite, with both goaltenders standing tall from that point out. Jett Menzies tied the game for RHAK through one, and in the last forty minutes of play, RHAK’s Quinn Hooper (27/29) and OHA’s Linden Hartford (30/31) stood tall to keep the game close. However, late in the second, Ryder Fortin broke through for OHA, giving them a lead they’d hang on to, with the hosts prevailing 2-1.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) vs. Shawnigan Lake School (7) Female U18 Prep Div II Western Championships SF

The first period had enough goals and offence for the whole game, with Shawnigan’s lead taken by Pilot Mound before Leah Hill (2G) tied the game at three before the first twenty minutes had even elapsed. Hill scored again fro Shawnigan, the only goal of the second, to give them a 4-3 lead through two, and setting up a third period in which the first goal would be massive; the start of the period would either provide Shawnigan the insurance of drag Pilot Mound back in it again. In 58 seconds, Shawnigan would answer that question by scoring twice, with Danika Eheler and Tess McGee scoring quick goals that extended the lead to a safe spot. The two teams would trade another goal apiece late in the third eventually ending the game 7-4 in Shawnigan’s favour.

OHA Edmonton (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (2) Female U18 Prep Western Championships SF

OHA Edmonton punched their ticket to the championship game with the kind of third‑period surge that only a seasoned #3 seed can summon, turning a tight semifinal against #1‑seed Delta Hockey Academy Green into a 5–2 statement win. After the teams traded late second‑period goals with Ryann Jugnauth (1G) scoring before Abigail Jung (1G) replied seconds later, the game cracked open in the third. Avery Sam (1G, 1A) sparked the run, Ryann Chimera (1G, 1A) buried a power‑play finish to reclaim momentum, and Riley Cooper (1G, 1A) made it 4–1 as Edmonton’s big three stacked points in rapid succession. Joryn Hempel (1G) added another on the man‑advantage in the final minutes, sealing a four‑goal frame that overwhelmed a Delta group that had cruised through round‑robin play. Emma Skolney (22/24) stayed composed behind it all, backstopping an OHA Edmonton team that saved its sharpest, most complete performance of the tournament for the semifinal stage.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (3) U15 Division II Western Championships

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy and Prairie Hockey Academy stepped into their second round‑robin game looking like two teams’ intent on tightening their grip on Pool B, and the pace reflected it. Prairie struck first through Lucas Duchscherer (1G) at 15:09, only for Gus Steeves (1G) to answer late in the frame, a small preview of the punch‑counterpunch rhythm that would define the night. Kolby Penner (1G) briefly nudged PHA ahead in the second before Greyson Ekramoddoullah (2G, 1A) tied it with 39 seconds left, a momentum swing that cracked the game open. Fifteen seconds into the third, Tate Davis (1G, 1A) put PCHA ahead for the first time, and Ekramoddoullah’s second at 3:35 stretched the lead just enough to survive Titan Sauter’s (1G) pushback. Prairie’s 46‑shot barrage kept the ice tilted, but Sawyer Elke’s (43/46) 43‑save performance turned the crease into a wall, letting Pacific Coast skate off with a 4–3 win that felt equal parts opportunistic, resilient, and timely for a #3 seed trying to seize control of the pool.

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (11) Female U18 Prep Western Championships SF

RINK Kelowna bulldozed their way into the championship game with a semifinal performance that looked every bit like a #2 seed operating at full throttle, dismantling RINK Winnipeg 11–0 in a matchup that tilted one direction from the opening shift. RHA Kelowna needed barely three minutes to get rolling as Brynn Rice (1G) struck first, and from there the floodgates opened as Alida Korte (3G) and Hayley McDonald (2G, 1A) powered a four‑goal burst that buried RINK Winnipeg before the period was halfway done. The second brought more of the same: Korte completed her hat trick, Kennedy Sisson (1G, 3A) kept threading passes through seams, and Jillian McLaughlin (1G, 3A) piled on as RINK Kelowna’s top unit carved through every defensive look RHA Winnipeg tried to throw at them. By the time Caitlyn Bell (1G, 1A), Maddy Niesh (1G), and Emersyn Allan (1G) added third‑period insurance, the only question left was the margin. Jaya Schippel (7/7) barely saw rubber behind a RINK Kelowna group that outshot Winnipeg 46–7 and turned a semifinal into a statement, punching their ticket to the final with the most dominant performance of the tournament.

OHA Edmonton (5) vs BWC Academy (3) U15 Western Championships

OHA Edmonton delivered the kind of emphatic bounce‑back a sixth seed needs in Pool B, punching BWC in the mouth with a four‑goal second period and riding that surge to a 5–3 win that never felt as close as the final score. After a tight, cautious first, Kole Imlay (1G) cracked things open late, and once BWC tied it early in the second, OHA Edmonton answered with a tidal wave: Damon Chinski (2G, 1A) burying a power‑play rebound, Marek Fetter (1G, 1A) finishing a slick rush 33 seconds later, and Max Holland (1G) stretching the lead before Chinski struck again at 16:31 to make it 5–1. BWC’s push in the third with power‑play goals from Mars Zhang (1G, 1A) and Chase Henderson (1G) made the finish tense, but Brynley Nault’s (37/40) 37‑save night held firm as OHA Edmonton leaned on structure to close it out. Outshooting the #3 seed 43–40 and outpacing them when the game tilted, OHA Edmonton’s response to their overtime loss looked every bit like a team refusing to drift out of contention.

STAR Hockey Academy (3) vs St. George’s School (5) U15 Division II Western Championships

Asher Jin (2G, 1A) would score 8:10 in and Elmer Wang added his second of the playoffs just 13 seconds later. Jeffrey Yu would get STAR on the board a few minutes later but Adam Johnson restored the St. George’s two goal lead less than two minutes later. Kiernan Kirkpatrick made it a one goal game with a power play goal 2:27 into the second period, beating Rhys Williams (24/27) for his first of the playoffs. Jin would reply midway through the period Alan Qiu would give St. George’s a 5-2 lead a few minutes later. Regan Haggard would open the third with his first of the playoffs but that was as close as STAR would get as St. George’s held on for a 5-3 win. Matthew Fu (3A) would tie Jin for the team lead with three points.

Edge School (1) vs Yale Hockey Academy (8) U15 Western Championships

Yale outshot Edge 50-32 and scored 7 straight to start the game en route to an 8-1 win Monday. RJ Livingston (2G, 1A) and Max Nicholson (2G) each scored twice while Brady Barrett (1G, 3A) and Jack Hagen (3A) had three assists. Satoshi Takeda scored the lone Edge goal, ending the Mason Baptiste (31/32) shutout bid with 4:05 left to play.
